Everyone seems to be concerned about property values. Most Americans have most of their wealth tied up in their home. So when we have a market like we have experienced the last couple of years, homeowners are rightly concerned. But there is good news on the horizon. In last week's Atlanta Journal Constitution, an article written by Michelle E. Shaw states that the Metro Atlanta real estate market has had a mild jump in home values through July of this year. Mild is approximately 2% according the the S&P Case-Shiller Index. I believe that we are still in for a rough time during the next twelve months. Our best market time is typically the Spring and Summer months and I think that we will see a downward trend in the average sales price for residential property in August and throughout the remainder of the year. An exception may be in December when I have traditionally seen a slight uptick in my real estate business.
